Abstract

486,187. Hats. TRESS, S. C. Oct. 26, 1937, No. 29255. [Class 63] To prevent grease or perspiration reaching the outer surface of a hat, the sweat-band A is sewn at A<1> to a strip B of grease-resistant material ; this is attached to the crown at a small number of isolated points more or less widely spaced apart, and a patch G of greaseresistant material is applied to form a seal over each group of stitches so that the patches lie between the stitches and the head of the wearer. The patches are secured by adhesive. Preferably at the sides of the hat, but also, if desired, at the brow and rear, corrugated ventilation strips D are fitted next the crown, which strips may be covered by absorbent padding E. The external band H is held in position around the hat crown by a buckle comprising a pair of loops K, K<1> with or without a clip, so that stitches securing the band to the crown are dispensed with.
