485,958. Belt - tensioning devices. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 28, 1937, No. 14889. Convention date, May 28, 1936. Addition to 442,904. [Class 80 (i)] In mountings of the kind described in the parent Specification for dynamo-electric machines, a torsion rod 45 has one end non - rotatably mounted in one of the arms of the U-shaped base and the other secured to a toothed segment 44 in mesh with a second segment 48 carried by the stator 10. The segment 48 is formed upon one of a pair of supports 20 which provide a resilient support for the stator on the uprights of the base as described in Specification 438,578. The torsional stress in the rod may be adjusted by changing the meshing teeth of the segments, and hence slippage of the belt at starting may be obtained.
