Abstract

485,487. Fluid - pressure servomotor - control systems. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Dec. 28, 1936, No. 35525. Convention date, Jan. 23. [Class 135] In fluid-pressure servomotor apparatus for controlling the amount of fuel supplied to an internal-combustion engine 1 by a fuel-injection pump 27 in dependence on the pressure in the induction pipe 5, a joint 12 comprising two or more springs of different strength is located in the return connection between the servopiston 19 and the control valve 10 so that the fuel-air ratio is automatically increased, for instance for climbing and taking- off in the case of an aircraft engine, when the induction pipe pressure and hence the engine output reaches a predetermined value. The induction pipe 5 is connected by a pipe 6 to a chamber 7 contained in an aneroid bellows 8. The servopiston 19 is connected to a rod 28 regulating the fuel-injection pump 27 by a lever 24 having a pivot 25. The lever 24 is connected to the box or casing part of the joint 12 which contains two strong springs 14, 30 and two weak springs 13, 29 arranged centrally about a disc 11 connected to the control valve 10 which is engaged by the free end of the bellows 8. The weak springs are carried in supports 32, 33 engaging the strong springs. If the induction pipe pressure varies in either direction from that necessary to maintain the apparatus in the position shown the weak springs are first compressed and a relatively high increase or decrease in the rate of fuel supply occurs which is cut down when the departure of the induction pipe pressure changes sufficiently to compress either of the strong springs. Fig. 3 shows a modified form of joint with two springs 35, 36 of different strength on opposite sides of the disc 11 and a small interposed spring engaging a seat 34.
