Abstract
485,411. Pulverulent fuel burners. SOC. D'ELECTRICITE DE PARIS. March 19, 1937, No. 8134. Convention date, March 25, 1936. [Class 75 (i)] A pulverulent-fuel burner comprises a rotary mixer 1 of the kind described in Specification 479,208 which delivers the mixed primary air and fuel to a number of radial conduits 3 separated by spaces 5 for the supply of secondary air from the casing 6, the spaces 5 being fitted at their outlet ends with shutters 7 which are simultaneously adjustable by means 8 to control both the supply of secondary air and its direction of delivery in relation to the primary air and fuel streams. The conduits 3 rest at their central parts on a hollow cone 4 and are so formed that they progressively increase in height and decrease in width towards the outlet ends, this arrangement providing a substantially constant cross-sectional area as far as the mouth of the burner. The cone 4 communicates with the spaces 5 through apertures 11 which are controlled by a register 9 to regulate the quantity of secondary air passing to the centre of the flame. The inner rotor of the mixer 1 is so arranged in relation to the mouths 2 of the conduits 3 that pulsations are produced in the streams of primary air and fuel.
