Abstract

485,297. Moulding toffee &c. by rolling-machines. ROSE, A. G., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Nov. 18, 1936, No. 31518. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for rolling toffee &c. into bar form comprises in combination a plurality of long rollers forming a tapering horizontal cradle, and a plurality of feed rollers arranged to rotate in planes radially disposed about a common horizontal axis to form a nip engaging the small end of the cone of material formed by the roller cradle. The rollers 10 forming the cradle are conical and are detachably mounted in end bearings 11, 12 and driven by gearing 13 from a motor 14. The big ends of the rollers 10 have spigots 40 which are keyed in sockets 41 attached to the driving pinions. The small ends have journals 32 retained in slots in the bearing 11 by a pivoted arcuate bar 34. The feed rollers 21 are mounted in a fixed frame near the small end of the cradle and are grooved so as to co-operate to form a nip of circular cross-section. The rollers are driven by bevel gearing through a clutch 30 from the shaft 28. Two further guide rollers 31 are provided which feed the toffee to a cutting and wrapping machine.
