Abstract

485,242. Tension bands for vulcanizing- apparatus. BOSTON WOVEN HOSE & RUBBER CO. May 26, 1937, No. 14610. Convention date, May 26, 1936. [Class 70] [Also in Group XXII] A wide endless tension band for use in vulcanizing-apparatus, such as that used for the production of belting, flooring, &c., is made by butt welding a number of flat steel sheets to form a band of uniform thickness having a smooth continuous surface. The band may be made, from a number of sheets 18 each equal to the width of the band as shown in Fig. 3 or from a number of sheets 1 each equal to the length of the band as shown in Fig. 1 ; the sheets 1 are butt welded to form endless sections and the sections are butt welded to form the endless band, the transverse welds 2 preferably being staggered longitudinally.
