[Class 77] A swimming-support comprising means by which its air content can be controlled during swimming practice may consist (Fig. 3) of a receptacle with tubular air outlets band d<2> fitted with valves o and d. A hand-controlled slide o<2> opens valve o, Fig. 4, air pump l being used for inflating when desired, and a cord d<1> for opening air escape valve d, Fig. 6, maintained closed by springs v<8>. A ring covered with finely woven material may be fitted at the end n of tube d<2> to regulate the air escape, and widened extension pipes b<4> and d4 improve air control. To provide partial deflation only, the support has two parts a and a<1>, part a<1> having an air-inlet valve c. Figs. 8 and 10 show embodiments providing slow deflation, consisting of independent inflatable parts, each having small punctures in rubber or metal nipple projections a, there being fixed to the support rubber or metal caps a<1> capable of being fitted or screwed to the nipples, and below each puncture a piece of finely woven fabric b, covered with thin rubber pierced with holes. In Fig. 10, the parts of the support are detachable and joined together by press-stud, buckle, or button. In the Provisional Specification, the swimmer may gradually deflate the support by means of elastic or rubber strips fastened to his fingers or toes and to spring-controlled plates closing air outlets in the support.
