Abstract

946,747. Inflatable suits. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 9, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 21419/59. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B7] An inflatable underwater swimming suit including at least one relief valve 17 in the upper region thereof has relief valves 17 in the ankle or foot portions arranged to open at a lower pressure than said relief valves or valves in the upper region. The suit is of thin flexible material fitting closely to the body of the wearer and has means whereby the wearer may exhale air into the suit to increase its internal pressure as in Specification 946,748. The relief valves may comprise a casing 19 (Fig. 2) with an aperture 20 communicating with the air space in the suit and a rubber diaphragm 22 normally held by the water pressure against a seat 23, or it may comprise a rubber bag 24 (Fig. 4) having its mouth held by a rubber ring 25 over a spigot 26 fixed to the suit so that when the air pressure in the bag exceeds a predetermined value, the mouth will expand to permit air to escape from the suit.
