Abstract
484,131. Water supply. SMITH, R. TWEEEDY-, and PAXON, A. T. Dec. 24, 1936, No. 35415. [Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] Apparatus for supplying hot and cold water for hotels &c. comprises at each drawing-off point a hot water tank including heating means, and a cold water tank, both tanks being supplied from a common source of cold water under pressure and having air under pressure retained therein. The hot water tank 1, with electric immersion heater 9, is connected to the cold tank 2 by pipe 3 to which a lateral pipe supplies cold water through a non-return valve 4, the water in the cold tank rising above a non- return valve 6 in a pipe 7 through which air expelled from the heated water passes to the cold tank. A safety valve 8 is also provided. Hot water is drawn off through pipe 10 and cold water through pipe 11 connected either to the pipe 3 or to the bottom of the tank 2. A branch pipe 12 with drain cock 13 is provided. A float, 14, sliding on a rod &c. 15 reduces absorption of air by the cold water.
