Abstract
373,790. Domestic and factory water heating installations. ELSY, J. H. and GIBBONS, J. H., 117, Alfred Street, South Shields. June 4, 1931, No. 16369. [Class 64 (i).] In a water heating installation in which heated water is circulated through a closed tank a within a larger storage tank b to heat the water in the latter, the ball-cock or similar device which regulates the supply of water to the tank b is arranged within the tank. The closed circuit including the tank a and the water heater ( n o t shown) is supplied with water by a connection c to the return pipe d of the circuit, and an exhaust pipe e from the flow pipe f discharges into the tank b when pressure in the closed circuit becomes excessive, or alternatively a relief valve is provided in the flow pipe. The draw-off pipe is above the top of tank a so that the latter is always covered by water, and the cold supply is led by a pipe s to the bottom of tank b. The compartment n communicating with the rest of the tank b through port p retains a supply of water for the closed circuit while the tank b is being emptied.
