Abstract

Abrasive bodies are prepared from a composition comprising abrasive grains (such as fused alumina, emery, corundum, silicon carbide, boron carbide, tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide or diamond), phenol-formaldehyde resin, a small quantity of calcium barium or strontium hydroxide and, if desired, a filler (such as cryolite, clay, quartz, calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate or other minerals) and a liquid plasticizer (such as furfural or liquid phenol-formaldehyde resin).
