Abstract

Abrasive bodies are prepared from a composition comprising abrasive grains (such as fused alumina, emery, carborundum, silicon carbide, boron carbide, tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide or diamond), an unmatured resinous bonding material (such as a phenolaldehyde resin), a small quantity of soluble anhydrite, anhydrous calcium oxide, dehydrated aluminium oxide or activated silica gel and, if desired, a filler (such as cryolite, clay, quartz, calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate or other minerals) and a liquid plasticizer (such as furfural, creosote oil or liquid phenol-formaldehyde resin).
