Abstract

482,924. Clip fastenings. BRIGGS MANUFACTURING CO. April 19, 1937, No. 11117. Convention date, Aug. 21, 1936. [Class 44] A spring clip for use in securing a trim panel 30 to the door frame 36 or other part of a motor vehicle comprises a base 20 with upturned corners 28a at its free end 28, a lug 21 struck up from the base, and an integral upstanding part 23 and bowed part 24 with a gripping arm 25 having an upturned end 27. The clip is secured to the rear face of the panel 30 by passing the end 28 through a rectangular aperture 34 in the panel so that the end underlies one edge of the aperture, the lug 21 and part 23 forming abutments bearing against opposite edges of the aperture. Part 23 may have a struck-up lug 29 adapted to press into the edge of the aperture. A portion 24a of the bow 24 overlies the edge of the aperture. In use, a series of clips are provided in spaced relationship round and set back from the edges of the panel, the arms 25 serving to secure the panel to the flange 37 of the frame 36.
