Abstract

<PICT:0482817/IV/1> <PICT:0482817/IV/2> A textile slubbing or roving for treatment with liquids under pressure is prepared by winding it in a fly-frame upon a rigid polished imperforate tubular holder provided with an external sleeve of permeable textile fabric, so that the formed winding with the sleeve incorporated can be slid from the holder on to a perforated treatment tube for passage of liquid. An ordinary wooden bobbin 3 with a driving recess in the shoulder 4 is fitted with three rubber rings 5 and a thicker rubber ring 6, which serve as mountings for a rigid polished imperforate paper tube 7 carrying a sleeve 8 of fabric, such as stockinette. When the package x has been built up, it is removed from the fly-frame together with the tube 7 and sleeve 8 and thus transported to the dyeing process. The tube 7 is then slipped out from the sleeve 8 which is passed over a perforated tube 9 so as to fit down into a perforated frusto-conical end 11; a double frusto-conical member 11a is then placed on the upper end of the package to enable further packages to be similarly mounted, the topmost package receiving a further member 11. Treatment liquor is then passed into the tube 9 under pressure. After treatment, the packages are again passed on to tubes 7 of suitable diameters. Specifications 368,748 and 398,738 are referred to.
