Abstract

482,719. Valve circuits for wireless reception. HARRIES, J. H. Oct. 2, 1936, No. 26747. [Class 40 (v)] The first valve 1 of a radio frequency amplifier to which A.V.C. potentials are applied, comprises volume control grids g3, g4 and a sharp cut-off signal input grid g1. The grid g1 has a steady negative bias provided by the cathode resistance R3 which, when signals of large amplitude are being received and the anode current has been greatly reduced by A.V.C. action, is increased by the flow of grid current due to the grid leak, grid condenser combination R4, C6. The auxiliary negative bias may alternatively be provided by a delayed diode rectifier. Specifications 461,282 and 461,310 are referred to.
