Abstract
482,377. Screw propellers. ELLIOTT, A. G., RUBBRA, A. A., and FAIRHURST, L. G. Sept. 29, 1936, No. 26439. Addition to 451,648. [Class 114] The combined thrust and journal race member carried by the root of a screw-propeller blade as described in the parent Specification is modified in that the two parts are formed separately, but interlocked. A member F screwed on to the metal sleeve B of the blade root A forms the direct bearing surface for the thrust rollers F<2>. Beneath it is a member F<6> forming a direct bearing surface for the needle journal bearing K, the upper part being formed with serrations F<7> engaging serrations F5 on the lower part of the member F. The member F<6> is held in position by a nut member G that bears against a ring B<2> having peripheral serrations G<2> engaging corresponding serrations G<3> in the member F<6>. The assembly is finally locked by a flanged nut H<2>. The serrations F<5>, F<7> may be made such that a vernier setting is permissible.
