481,473. Foot-arch supports. HILES, L. V. June 1, 1937, No. 15168. Convention date, June 16, 1936. [Class 17 (ii)] A metatarsal arch-supporting pad 11 has projecting from its underside a U-shaped bridge piece 13 by which it may be guided, for longitudinal adjustment of the pad, along a flat bar member 15 secured to a shoe sole 10 or to a sock insertable in a shoe. The bar member 15 is riveted at one end to the sole or sock and may turn about this end as pivot to adjust the pad laterally in the shoe, the opposite end of the member 15 carrying a prong 19 to hold it in adjusted position. A projection 20 on the bridge piece 13 engages the sole or in one of a series of perforations in the member 15 to hold it in adjusted position.
