Abstract

420,211. Foot-supporting shoe &c. inserts. SCHAFER, A., 62, Hermann-L÷ns- Weg, Fuhlsb³ttel, Hamburg, Germany. April 9, 1934, No. 10640. [Class 81 (ii)] A foot-supporting insert for boots or shoes comprises a heel plate 1, extending beneath but not beyond the tarsal bones of the foot and having a vertical portion 3 on one side, combined with a blade spring 9 detachably connected to the plate and extending forwardly to support, by padding 13 or by shaping the spring, the metatarsal bones. The plate and spring are covered with leather or the like 2 and cloth 12 respectively, and a replaceable adjusting wedge 5 may be riveted beneath the plate. The spring 9 is provided with a slot 14 and a row of holes 17, and is secured to the plate 1 by a screw or rivet 15 engaging the slot 14, and a screw or rivet 16 passed through one of the holes 17 and engaged with one of a number of holes 18 in the plate, to provide for longitudinal and lateral adjustment.
