Abstract

395,496. Foot-arch supports. FREI & KASSER AKT.-GES., 83, Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. June 6, 1932, No. 16010. Convention date, June 7, 1931. [Class 81 (ii).] A foot supporting insole comprises a rigid arch support 5, extending up to the metatarsals, connected to a flexible heel portion 6. This may comprise top and bottom layers of leather, vulcanized fibre, or rubber secured to a metal arch plate by rivets, adhesive, press-studs, or otherwise. The plate may have its longitudinal edges raised or upturned. An envelope may be provided comprising leather soles 1, 2, sewn together at 3 and provided with a slot 4 for inserting the arch support and, if desired, additional metatarsal supports. Alternatively, the envelope may be open at the front or side or form a closable pocket. A piece of vulcanized fibre 7 prevents wear of the sole. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises a rigid arch plate provided at the rear end with a flexible portion 20, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), which may have a flap 21 stated to prevent the plate slipping out of the enclosing envelope. This may have a flap covering the open front end and provided with a tongue engaging a slit in the lower sole. As shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled), an intermediate sole 16 is secured to the top sole forming a pocket for the arch support. A slot 23 or other opening is provided for metatarsal supports 24. Wedge pieces 22 may also be introduced. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
