Abstract
481,276. Cooling towers. RICHTER, T., and JUNG, E., (trading as RICHTER & CO.). June 8, 1936, No. 15995. Convention date, June 8, 1935. [Class 29] Liquid is cooled by dropping from a trough 1 upon distributing plates 2 and a series of horizontal battens 3 spaced well apart vertically to atomize the falling liquid and by the horizontal passage of air entering at 4 and passing into a vertical series of nozzle-shaped tapering channels 6 to concentrate the liquid into larger particles. The air then expands into a chamber with battens 8 spaced close together vertically to separate liquid drops. The walls of the channels 6 may be formed from battens. The outer edge of the cooler may be formed by battens with splash surfaces inwardly inclined. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also air paths in the form of conical frusta or rectangular prisms of different cross-sections in line. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
