Abstract
480,995. Toys. MOTT, G. L. DE. Feb. 15, 1937, No. 4482. [Class 132 (iii)] A paper doll comprises a doll body 5 having an article of apparel 8 detachably attached thereto by means of a permanently tacky pressure - sensitive adhesive 10 provided on the body or on the article of apparel or on tabs 9 thereon. The paper doll may be reinforced by fabric and removable slippers 7 may be provided. The article of apparel 8 may be printed in colour on a paper sheet or may be made of crepe paper or light fabric mounted on a semi-rigid paper backing sheet and reinforced with fabric such as linen. The loosening of the tabs 9 may be facilitated by using crepe paper or by leaving a small strip 11 adjacent the end of each tab free from adhesive. The tabs 9 mav be treated with an adhesive-repellent substance such as animal glue before the adhesive is applied. Glue in water solution may be applied together with a hygroscopic substance such as glycerine and a tanning agent such as formaldehyde for rendering the paper waterproof. A simple adhesive is composed of one part gum-rubber to about four parts of asphaltum dissolved in carbon disulphide or benzene.
