Abstract

480,575. Suspending conductors. WATSON, T. M. July 13, 1937, No. 19355. [Class 36] A trolley wire suspension ear comprises a body portion 5 having means, such as an internally screw-threaded socket 6, for attachment to a suspension insulator and formed with a longitudinal web 7 having flanges 8 on its opposite sides. Clamping cheeks 9, 10 having longitudinal ribs 11 for engagement over the flanges 8 and formed at their lower edges into jaws 13 for gripping the trolley wire 12 are secured together and to the body portion by screws 14. To prevent relative longitudinal movement . between the clamping cheeks and the body portion the web may be formed with a projection 15 which engages a slot in the flange 11 of the cheek 9. The jaws 13 may be of the form shown or they may encircle the trolley wire, in which case the edges of the clamping cheeks are preferably chamfered towards their ends.
