Abstract

479,936. Directive wireless signalling ; valve circuits for wireless reception. PLESSEY CO., Ltd., and BAILEY, C. E. G. Aug. 8, 1936, No. 21894. Addition to 479,689. [Class 40 (v)] In a direction finder of the type described in the parent Specification in which two mutually perpendicular aerials feed independent amplifiers V1, V2 and an A.V.C. potential is derived from a non-directional aerial, compensating means are provided to maintain a constant relationship between the gains of the amplifiers over a range of gain control. The grids of valves V1, V2 are connected to variable tappings T1, T2 respectively on a potential divider RP supplied from the common A.V.C. potential source, and their cathode resistances R1, R2 are variable. The resistances R1, R2 are preliminarily adjusted to match the gains for high gain and the tappings T1, T2 for low gain.
