478,881. Sewing-machines. ROBERT, R. C. July 22, 1936, No. 20336. [Class 112] A compact feeding device has a dog operated by a triangular-shaped eccentric and a forked lever. When the shaft 1 rotates, two non- consecutive quarters of a revolution of the eccentric 2 actuate the forked lever 13 which gives a rise-and-fall movement to the pin 15 on which is mounted the feed bar 6 carrying the dog 16. The feed bar is guided by vertical guides 6<1> on the rod 3. During the other two quarters of the revolution of the eccentric 2, alternating with the quarters producing the rise-and-fall movements, the eccentric operates the rod 3 by working in a square hole 4, causing the rod to swing about the pivot 5 on the link 8 swinging on the pivot 7 and so impart the feed movement to the dog 16. The stitch length is regulated or the feed reversed by loosening the screw 11 and swing- ing the arm- 10 to the right or left. This turns the shaft 9 axially and alters the relation between the pivots 5 and 7. The device may be put out of action by moving the eccentric axially out of the square hole 4.
