Class 112 A sewing machine feed bar is mounted for pivotal movement about and translatory movement along an axis disposed parallel to the direction of work feed, to provide feed lift and feed advance movements respectively. A plate-like feed bar 30 carries at one end a feed dog 28 and has secured to its other and forked end a U-shaped bracket 33, to provide a pair of jaws 34 which embrace a horizontal rod 35 disposed parallel to the line of feed. The feed bar can thereby pivot about and slide along rod 35. A plate 36 mounted inside a cylindrical bed 11 is formed with bearing lugs 39, 40. A pitman 41, pivoted at 42 to lug 39, is forked at one end to embrace a feed lift eccentric 43 on a rotary shaft 16, and is connected at its other end by a link 44 to a block 49 secured by a screw 51 to the feed bar. The height of the feed dog may be adjusted by turning the eccentrically formed pivot 48 between link 44 and block 49. A shaft 52 journalled in lugs 39, 40 has secured thereto a rock frame 55 formed with bearing lugs 56, 57. Ball members 62 carried by the latter are engaged in apertures 63, 64 in the feed bar. A shaft 58 journalled in lugs 56, 57 has secured thereto one end of a link 60 to the other end of which is clamped a pivot pin 67. One end of pin 67 is journalled in the upper end of a pitman 65 the lower end of which embraces a feed advance eccentric 66 on shaft 16. The other, and eccentric, end of pin 67 is journalled in a slide block 71 disposed in a slotted guide 72. The latter is carried by a shaft 73 ,angular movement of which serves to vary the inclination of guide 72 for adjusting the stitch length. The feed dog may be centred by turning pin 67.
