Abstract
478,797. Meshing screw engines. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Aktiebolaget Imo-Industri) June 30, 1937, No. 18219. [Class 110 (ii)] An engine or pump of the meshing-screw type comprises a power screw 10 provided with a convex-helical surface 13 which meshes with an abutment screw 11 having a concave portion 14 with rounded parts 15. The surface 12 of the screw 10 is shaped to fit the rounded part 15 of the screw 11, whereas the part 14 of the screw 11 fits the outer edge 13 of the screw 10. On rotation of the screws, points 25, 26, 27 on screw 10 contact with points 251, 26', 27<1> on screw 11. The points 29, 29<1> touch each other without sliding. The contours of the screws are manufactured approximately to the correct shapes, and then ground together to wear off excess material. Specifications 231,865 and 334,821, [both in Class 110 (ii)], are referred to.
