Abstract

478,014. Making electric incandescent lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. (Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen) Sept. 15, 1936, No. 25145. [Class 39 (ii)] In the manufacture of electric incandescent lamps, one or more leading-in wires such as 11-14 are sealed into each of a number of subsidiary foot-tubes 6, 7 which are then welded at their other end to apertures in a main foot-tube 1 of moulded glass or ceramic material formed with a flange adapted to close the envelope 2 of the lamp, the filaments 15, 16 being mounted on the leading-in wires before the envelope is thus closed. In the example the subsidiary foot-tubes 6, 7 are butt-welded to short cylinders 4, 5 projecting from the main foot-tube 1. The filament system consists of two rows 15, 16 each of six parallel tungsten helices, with the junctions between adjacent helices connected to the hooked ends of wires 19 which are mounted in upper and lower insulating blocks 17, 18 respectively supported between the pairs of leading-in wires 11, 13 and 12, 14. The filaments 15, 16 may be connected in series or parallel.
