[Classes 79 (iii) and 79 (iv)] [Also in Groups XIX and XXXII] Instruments and instrument panels on aircraft and other vehicles are carried by a number of crank arms forming a torsional springing system, the journalled part of each crank arm being adhesively secured in a rubber or like vibration damping bushing which is in turn adhesively secured in a pedestal or support. The instrument panel 2 is attached by rubber joints 3 to crank arms 4 journalled in bonded rubber bushings 6 in brackets 8. A number of rubber rings of differing strength, hardness or initial tension may be provided coming into action successively to accelerate the rate of increase of resistance with displacement. As shown in Fig. 2, the crank spindle 5 is bonded through a keyed sleeve 10 to a thick rubber ring 9 which absorbs ordinary oscillations and is provided with a pin 13 engaging a transverse slot 12 in a sleeve 15 bonded to a thin rubber bushing 11 so that this bushing is brought into operation when the oscillations exceed a predetermined amplitude. The pin 13 passes through a transverse slot in the spindle 5, being secured to an inner spindle 14. The spindles 5, 14 are interconnected by projections and grooves so that the initial setting of the pin 13 can be adjusted.
