[Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXXIII and XXXI] An engine or other apparatus having parts rotating or oscillating about an axis is mounted on a support or frame by means which include at least one member mounted through the intermediary of an elastic ring adapted to damp vibrations of small amplitude on an axle substantially parallel to the axis of rotation, the member being connected with the apparatus and formed with an arm connected with a damping device carried by the support and adapted to damp vibrations of large amplitude. In one form, an aircraft engine 1 is supported in a cradle 2, 3. The members 2 are arranged parallel to the engine crankshaft and are connected by rubber bushes 7 to shafts 5 which are connected by links 8 and rubber bushes to beams 13 forming part of the aircraft framework 14. One or more of the links 8 are provided with extensions 15 connected to members 16, 17 between which and members 21 are disposed pneumatic members 18. In a modification the mounting is applied to a radial aero-engine in which case the engine mounting ring acts through gear teeth arranged between the mounting ring and the arm engaging the member. The pneumatic member may be replaced by a dashpot having a piston centralized by springs and provided with a metering orifice and a non-return valve in order to give a differential action.
