Balancing reciprocating parts of machinery.- In damping arrangements 10 for jigging conveyers, sieves and other oscillating mechanisms of the kind in which two series of adjustable springs 5, 6 acting in opposite, directions are placed between the moving parts 1 of the mechanism and a fixed member 4, forces which may cause objectionable horizontal vibrations are eliminated by attaching a counterweight 7 to the mechanism so that it oscillates about the same axes 3 as the mechanism but in the opposite direction. The counterweight has a damping system 17 indentical with the system 10.
