[Class 39 (i)] In a television transmitter, the electron image formed by a photo-electric cathode is intensified by storing up the light energy of each element of the image during the interval between successive scannings, by the use of a phosphorescent screen of a Lenard phosphor, the stored light energy being released at the scanning of the element to activate the corresponding element of the photo-electric cathode. The image is projected on a phosphorescent screen preferably of zinc sulphide with manganese, and is reproduced on the photoelectric cathode, the phosphorescent screen being scanned by an infra-red ray in synchronism with the scanning proper.
