Abstract

Alcohol is solidified, as for transport or fuel purposes, by dissolving or forming therein a soluble fatty acid salt, and then adding to the hot solution a metal salt which forms an insoluble hydrate and during combustion, reacts with the soluble fatty acid salt to form a non-fusible metal salt which is finally converted into an oxide. Example: 2,5 gm. of stearic acid are dissolved in 100 cc. of hot ethyl alcohol, 1,5 cc. of 36 DEG B<\>ae. caustic soda are added, and then 0,5 gm. of copper nitrate.
