476,891. Key - - operated switches. OWEN, W. G. June 17, 1936, No. 16799. [Class 38 (v)] A key-operated switch suitable for closing .the circuit to a fire alarm and adapted to be operated by authorized persons only, comprises contacts q on a member p carried by a plunger e carrying a pin h engaging two L-shaped slots j in a guiding sleeve d. The parts are normally held in the position shown, the pin,h engaging the horizontal parts of the slots j. To close the switch a detachable key is made to engage the end f of the plunger, which is shaped as shown in Fig. 5, and the plunger rotated till the pin h reaches the vertical parts of the slots j. During this rotation, the member p, which is loosely mounted on the plunger e and is restrained by a guide n, does not move. A spring k then raises the plunger so that the contacts q engage the fixed contacts l.
