Abstract

476,506. Rubber tapes. INTERNATIONAL LATEX PROCESSES, Ltd., and JAMES, R. G. June 11, 1936, No. 16298. Addition to 410,415. [Class 70] The process described in the parent Specification is modified in that the latex is allowed to flow down the under side of a backing surface inclined at an acute angle to the surface of the coagulant, and the tape produced is withdrawn in an opposite direction from that of the flow of the latex down the backing surface. The backing surface 1, which may either touch or be partially immersed in the coagulant, may be a flat surface of a rod, or it may be the edge, grooved or plain, of a rotating disc. The tape 3 may be passed under rollers slightly immersed in the bath. Vulcanized latex may be used or the tape produced may contain vulcanizing ingredients, or be subjected to vulcanizing liquids or vapours. Heat-sensitive latex may be employed, using hot water as coagulant.
