Abstract

702,560. Rolling thermoplastic sheet material. ARMSTRONG CORK CO. July 16, 1951 [Oct. 31, 1950], No. 16809/51. Class 87 (2) Sheets of thermoplastic material, e.g. bitumen with asbestos binder, are immersed in baths of heated lubricant 6, 7 before they are passed through shaping rollers 3, 4, 5. The bath may consist of hot water, soap and carnauba wax. The wax emulsion is heated to a temperature of about 180‹F. and the sheet immersed until it attains a surface temperature of about 120 to 130‹F. The 'sheet is subjected to successive shaping operations in the rollers 3, 4, 5. The finishing material, e.g. the wax, need only be incorporated in the bath preceding the last pair of rollers.
