Abstract

Aggregate selected on the minimum void principle is mixed with such a proportion of bitumen as to coat the surface of the particles with a film 2,8 to 3,4 m in thickness, and then pressed into slabs or blocks under high pressure e.g. 300 to 500 kgms. per sq. cm. at 120 to 180 DEG C. Examples are given showing the method of calculation.
