Abstract

A composite metal roll with an enlarged central portion has the surface of this portion of iron containing 2,84 per cent of carbon, 0,28 per cent of silicon, 0,07 per cent of sulphur, 0,14 per cent of manganese, 0,41 per cent of chromium, 0,30 per cent of molybdenum, 0,38 per cent of phosphorus, and 4,05 per cent of nickel, the central portion and the ends consisting of ordinary grey cast iron.
