Abstract

476,103. Gun mountings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., LOBELLE, M. J. O., and VOSS, E. Sept. 3, 1935, No. 24562. [Class 92 (i)] An aircraft gun mounting, which can be erected for firing or stowed within the fuselage as shown in full and broken lines in Fig. 1, has the gun 5 universally jointed to a cross-bar 14 longitudinally jointed to links 15, 16 which are universally jointed to members 18, 19 on the fuselage. The arrangement permits of the gun being moved to the chain line position 6 for firing over. the side of the fuselage, the cross-bar 14 remaining horizontal during the lateral movements of the linkage. Springs 24, 25 tend to return the links to the upright position. A quadrant 27 with lever-lock 29 permits of fixing the links in adjusted position. Stays 22, universally jointed between the links 15, 16 and runners 23, permit of lowering the gun through a slot in the structure 9 to the housed position 7A. By providing slots for the members 18, 19, the gun may be adjusted forwardly to position 32 when raised or to position 7 when lowered. Locking in the raised and lowered positions is effected by a trigger-operated bolt engaging holes in a sector 34.
