[Class 83 (ii)] An iron pipe, tube, or like article is lined or sheathed with rustless steel, the alloy sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Monel," nickel-copper alloys, German silver, &c. by fitting to the article in an airtight manner a thin tubular shell of the chemically resistant material, having a lapped longitudinal seam united by electric resistance welding. A lining may be tightly drawn against the wall of the pipe, and the ends welded to produce an airtight fit. A cylindrical tube A having a lining B with an electric resistance welded lapped longitudinal joint B<1> may be subsequently provided with corrugations a.
