Abstract
475,698. Piston-rings. WALLEGHEM, M. VAN. Nov. 23, 1936, No. 32042. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1936. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 24, 1937.] [Class 122 (i)] Each ring groove is provided with oil passages 2b and carries a U-section ring 9 also provided with oil passages 9d and carrying a secondary ring 10 of the section shown. In the lowermost ring groove the ring 10 is grooved at 10b on its flat faces to facilitate passage of oil, the grooves being arranged alternately in the top and bottom surfaces, and the slots 2b, 9b are elongated. One limb of each ring 9 may be chamfered at 9a and the cylinder contacting faces of the rings 10 are rounded. The open end of the piston is bevelled for oil scraping purposes. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, describes also the ring constructions shown in Figs. 1 and 3 (Cancelled), but this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
