Abstract
475,555. Signs; showcards. MATTHEWS, A. G., and LEVY, A. May 19, i936, Nos. 14156 and 19449. [Class 3 (ii)] A sign, showcard, bill or the like comprises a thin flexible backing sheet such as fabric or thin paper coated on one face with a composition comprising linseed or like oil and china clay, kaolin or the like, to form a smooth highly glazed surface which is arranged to support or bear matter to be displayed through a window, the glazed sheet being adhered to the window by pressure. In an embodiment shown in the Figure, a printed representation of the head 6 and legs 7 of a boy is formed on the glazed sheet and parts 8 shaped as the outline of a suit or dress are cut out and backed bv cloth or other material 10. In a further embodiment, portions of the glazed surface extending to one or more edges of the sheet are coated with a material to prevent them adhering to the window, thus enabling cards bearing printed matter to be inserted between the sheet and window. Slits may also be provided in the sheet to permit insertion of the cards.
