Abstract

475,496. Direct - - injection engines. JOHNSON, G. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) May 14, 1936, No. 13669. Drawings to Specification. [Class 7 (iii)] Before operating a direct-injection engine with products of high boiling-point obtained by the extraction or destructive hydrogenation of coal, a tar oil, preferably of an aromatic nature, is introduced into the fuel supply system. The engine may be started on gas oil and flushed with tar oil before being operated with the products, or the engine may be started with a mixture of gas and tar oil. A little wood tar oil may be added to the products which are kept at a temperature of 100‹ C.
