474,860. Furnace walls. AMERICAN ENGINEERING CO. Nov. 4, 1936, No. 30018. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1935. [Class 51 (i)] In a furnace wall of the kind comprising vertical water tubes 23, 26 connected to upper and lower horizontal headers 24, 25, 27, and having a portion in abutting relation with the fuel bed of the furnace, one or more tubes 37 extend from one end of the upper header 24 transversely adjacent to the wall and are connected to the lower header 27 for diverting molten slag flowing down the wall from the lower portion thereof. The lower portions of the wall tubes may be provided with protective blocks above which the tubes 37 are arranged.
