Abstract

379,361. Operating cupola furnaces. VEREINIGTE STAHLWERKE AKT.- GES., 69, Breitestrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. May 29, 1931, No. 15744. Convention date, July 15, 1930. [Class 72.] In a cupola furnace, a cooling liquid, e.g. water, is introduced into the shaft above the melting zone through a vertical pipe 1 which is adjustable in height in order that the most favourable point of introduction may be determined. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a construction in which the cooling medium is supplied to the shaft through radial nozzles arranged in the same or different horizontal planes. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
