Abstract
474,634. Dispensing liquids. PRECISION METERS, Ltd., and HORTON, F. May 25, 1936, No. 14756. [Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] In dispensing lubricating-oil the oil is discharged into a portable container having a spring-pressed piston and a hand-controlled valve. The container may comprise a glass cylinder 10, clamped between end caps 11, 12 by means of bolts 13 shaped to form handles. The piston 25, acted on by a spring 27, slides on a central sleeve 19, which is held against a packing washer 22 by a spring 24 abutting on a bush 20. The discharge nozzle 15 is controlled by a valve 17, which is acted on by the spring 24, and is pivotally mounted on a rod 18. The latter passes through the bush 20 and the washer 22 and can be operated by means of a button 23. Alternatively the valve may be operated by a lever mounted in the upper end cap. To fill the container it is suspended from the pump discharge nozzle 40 by means of a sleeve 33, which is slidable on the nozzle against the action of a spring 34, confined by a bush 41. The nozzle is controlled by a valve 38 acted on by a spring 39. The container nozzle is inserted through a lateral opening 37 in the sleeve 33, the nozzle being formed with cam surfaces 36 which engage the sleeve. The cylinder 10 may be enclosed in a metal shield, or may be of metal with a glass window. The container may be graduated to act as a measuring vessel.
