[Class 35] [Also in Group XXII] Cores and polepieces for rotary magnet magnetos of the type in which the polepieces are formed of laminations cast into the magneto body are made by providing a separate packet of laminations for each polepiece, each packet comprising a polepiece of the aggregate thickness of all the laminations and an arm, the thickness of which is a fraction of the thickness of the polepieces. For this purpose the laminations may be made in two forms, shown in Figs. 4 and 5, each comprising a portion 6 which is to form a part of the polepiece and a branch 7, the branches in adjacent laminations being offset with regard to each other, so that when the laminations are put in place and compressed they form a polepiece 4 and an arm 5 as shown in Fig. 3.
