Abstract

473,636. Valve relay circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 9, 1936, No. 13153. Convention date, May 11, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XIX] In apparatus for indicating data relating to mechanical vibrations, a device giving varying potential differences in accordance with varying mechanical pressures is connected in a circuit which has the effect of integrating twice to give a value representing the amplitude of the mechanical vibrations. The device 16 is mounted in a casing 11 screwed to the vibrating body under test and may be a piezo crystal, a carbon block or a magnetostrictive member. In the case of a crystal it is connected to an amplifier 20 coupled through a condenser 37 (10 microfarads) to a resistance 43 (50,000 ohms) and a condenser 41 (0À5 microfarads), a large resistance 45 (1 megohm) being connected across the condenser 41. A valve 21 is connected at the junction of 43, 41 and thus has an amplification factor inversely proportional to the frequency of the potential variations. The valve 21 is connected to a further circuit similar to the one associated with the valve 21 and comprising a valve 22, the plate circuit of this containing an ammeter 47 which gives an indication relating to the amplitude of the vibrations.
