Abstract

473,337. Delivery-apparatus for printing-machines. CRABTREE & SONS, Ltd., R. W., and EVAD7S, A. B. April 7, 1936, No. 10251. [Class 100 (i)] In a sheet-delivery apparatus for printing- machines the sheets are delivered to a pile x from a stream of successively-overlapping sheets t held at their upper edges by grippers v carried by endless chains k and spaced apart a distance substantially less than the sheet length. The sheets are taken from the impression cylinder a by grippers g on endless chains e and transferred to the grippers v, the grippers g, v moving in opposite directions at the point of transfer. The grippers v are rotated relatively to the chain k so that initially the sheets hang vertically therefrom but subsequently are turned into the horizontal position so as to overlap prior to their release from the grippers v and delivery to the pile x. A table z supports the lower ends of the sheets during their passage to the pile x. In order to operate the grippers in the desired manner, the gripper-carrying brackets k<5> are fixed to shafts k<3> mounted in links k<2> of the chains k. Each shaft k<3> has two extending arms s, s<1> provided with runners s', s<3>, adapted to co-operate with cam-grooves q, r, so as to rotate the gripper v as desired.
