Delivery apparatits.-Relates to sheet-delivery apparatus for cylinder printing-machines as described in Specification 29258*/10 in which grippers raise the sheets 4 from the impression cylinder 1 in a backward direction and deposit them on flexible platforms 3 carried by chains 2 moving in a reverse direction, and consists in the provision of a further flexible platform disposed longitudinally to the chains, on to which the sheets fall when they are stripped off the platforms 3 by fingers 5, and which is moved from beneath the sheets to transfer the sheets to a reciprocating sheet-delivery apparatus or direct to a receiving board. In one form, applicable to a Wharfedale machine, the sheet leaving the platform 3 is received on a platform 7 consisting of a series of tapes stretching between two fixed bars 12, 13 and passing over rollers 14, 15 mounted on a reciprocating carriage 6 carrying endless tapes 10 which remain stationary during the movement of the carriage towards the pipe table 11 and are actuated so that the upper surface moves towards the table 11 during the reverse movement. As the carriage moves away from the table 11, the platform passes over the rollers 14, 15 and beneath the carriage 6, the sheet being transferred to the tapes 10 without rubbing due to the movement of tapes. The sheet is conveyed over the table 11 by the carriage and deposited thereon during the reverse movement. The rollers 14, 15 may be replaced by bars, and the rollers or bars may be reciprocated independently of the carriage 6. In one modification, the platform 7 is replaced by a flexible platform of the roller blind type. In a further modification, particularly applicable to two-colour drop-cylinder machines, the platform 7 is dispensed with, and the carriage 6 is made about twice the length of the sheet being delivered, so that a sufficient length of the carriage is under the sheet to support it as it is being stripped from the platform 3.
