Abstract

472,569. Resilient mountings. UNITED STATES RUBBER PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 10, 1936, No. 27513. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1935. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient mounting for absorbing vibrations between two bodies 21, 23 comprises an outer, hollow metal member, such as a flanged channel-bar 10, adapted to be secured to one body 21 and having sides 13 and an apertured cross-portion 15 therebetween, the aperture 16 being smaller than the adjacent portion of an inner member, such as a solid bar 11 having a threaded socket 17, which member is secured within the outer member by rubber 12 vulcanized to both members and is adapted to be secured to the second body 23 by means, such as a bolt 24 extending through the aperture 16. The cross-portion 15 of the outer member holds the inner member within the outer member should the rubber band between the two members fail. The rubber is inserted in the channel 10 in its unvulcanized form and then vulcanized to the sides 13, 14 of the channel and bar respectively, after which the mounting has the form shown in broken lines in Fig. 2. Subsequently the sides 13 are bent inwardly compressing the rubber. An elongated form of mounting may be constructed as described above and then cut into units. In an inverted form of the invention the bar 11 is replaced by a channelmember. In a further modification for securing to a vertical wall, the bar 11 is T-shaped.
